Your Questions Answered

On this page, MalCole Drip and Beauty Bar has put together some of the frequently asked questions about our IV treatments for clients in and around St. Louis, Missouri.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is IV hydration therapy?

IV hydration is the delivery of vitamins by inserting a tiny needle intravenously usually in the inside of the forearm or top of the hand. The nutrients are then absorbed through the body’s cells at a rapid rate with the goal to optimize overall health. Results of IV hydration can be seen immediately, and clients notice a dramatic improvement after just one treatment.

How is IV hydration therapy different from taking oral supplements?

Many people have trouble with nutrient absorption — from supplements or food — due to the presence of intestinal inflammation, poor gut health, or digestive diseases, such as IBS, Crohn's disease, or Celiac disease. Through IV therapy, nutrients are delivered directly to the cells. It feeds your body instantly for immediate usage and gives your body the nutrients it needs.

What is an intramuscular (IM) injection? How long does it take?

Injections are given intramuscular (IM), meaning the vitamins are given into a muscle using a small needle. These are often injected into the upper arm or the upper gluteal muscle (upper hip region). IM vitamin shots only take a few seconds to administer.

Do I need to get tested before receiving IV hydration therapy?

No. We do not require any testing prior to your treatment. However, before the session, you will be required to fill out a medical form that our medical staff will review and approve.

Who administers the IV hydration therapy treatment? Is it legal?

The owner of MalCole Drip and Beauty Bar is a registered nurse with years of experience in starting IVs and administering injections. She also works directly under a doctor who serves as her medical director.

As a registered nurse, it is in her scope of practice to start and administer IV infusions and injections. The state of Missouri also requires her to work under a medical director. Standing orders and consents are signed off by her medical director, and any questions or concerns are brought to him immediately.

How long does IV hydration therapy takes?

IV hydration therapies take from 30 to 60 minutes.

Can I receive both an IV hydration treatment and IM injection together?

Yes, and this is the ideal recommendation. Boosters (IM shots) are a great way to take advantage of your IV therapy by adding medicine/vitamins to any drip that does not already include it.

How often can I get IV hydration or IM shot?

Elective IV therapy is recommended no more than once a week. The vitamins will remain in your system for at least 2 to 3 weeks.

Most IM Shots are available 2 to 3 times per week, depending on the formula. However, it can last up to 2 weeks.

What is a concierge service?

A registered nurse will travel to your home, hotel, or Airbnb to administer IV hydration therapy.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, as well as HAS and FSA cards with a Visa/Mastercard logo.
